About Shitsukawa district

The TambaSasayama City Gokawa district is located at the southeastern end of the city, bordering Nose-cho, Osaka Prefecture in the east, Inagawa Town in the south, and Sanda City in the west. It is one of the closest mountain villages to the city, surrounded by abundant nature, with an altitude of 320m, which is separated from the central part of TambaSasayama City by the mountain pass (kosaga Pass). The Hatsuka River, which is the source of the Muko River, flows east to west through the district, and there are seven villages along the river. The river is home to giant salamanders, yamame trout and  kajika frog. It is a historical area that was once opened as a manor of Todaiji Temple. It is a compact mountain village with a population of 524 and 175 households.
